Southern Muses are three women living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Two of us are Southern to the core; one of us is still learning. After many cups of coffee (strong and black), numerous Krispy Kremes (sweet and glazed) and several glasses of wine (dry and red) we decided to take our conversations, opinions and adventures world-wide. We hold these truths: tea should be drunk sweet, that banana pudding is really a vegetable, that “dawgs” can teach us about the art of gentle living and that southern ladies can cuss, but never swear. We believe that the South is alive and well and that it is as much a state of mind as a place to visit.

We hope you’ll join us.

  1. Love this–I probably know at least one of you. Grew up in Charlotte from 1956-1974, until I went off to college. My father’s first job was working at KK in Winston Salem, back in the 1930’s.

Well, isn’t it time for you to be ‘outed’ in the Observer, if that hasn’t already happened?

I imagine you’ve already been discovered.

But if not, I’d like to do my column about you in the University City News section of the Observer, if you’re game.

I look forward to reading through your blog. It’s sure to make living in Newell even more enjoyable than it already is.
